Ingredients:


For the cake:


- 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour

- 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar

- 2 teaspoons baking powder

- 1 teaspoon salt

- 1 cup (235ml) whole milk, at room temperature

- 2 large eggs, at room temperature

- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract


For the buttercream frosting:


- 2 cups (400g) unsalted butter, at room temperature

- 4 cups (400g) confectioners' sugar

- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

- 4-6 tablespoons whole milk or heavy cream


Instructions:


1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch (23cm) round cake pans.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.

4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until smooth.

5. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans and smooth the tops.

6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

7. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

8. For the frosting, beat the butter until creamy, then gradually add the confectioners' sugar, beating until smooth and creamy.

9. Add the vanilla extract and milk, beating until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.

10. Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate or cake stand.

11. Spread a layer of frosting on top, then repeat with the remaining two layers.

12. Frost the outside of the cake with the remaining frosting.
